Paris is one of the premier capitals of the world especially the romantic amongst us Johnny Townsend Raiders Jersey ,also known as affectionately as the City of Lights. No visit to Europe would be complete without a short stay in Paris; you will however, discover that more time is required to fully appreciate what it has to offer.
It is famous for many famous buildings and locations, plus sights like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and many other places that are havens for tourists, both home grown and international. Fortunately for tourists, Paris has a first rate transportation system; there is an excellent underground system called the Metro which runs regular trains into the city center and is very easy to understand.
The Eiffel Tower at over 300 meters tall and is a magnificent steel structure,it can be seen throughout most locations around the city. Illuminated in the evening, it is one of the most beautiful sights in the entire city, guided tours add to the thrill as you get to peek into history on how it was constructed.
A trip down the Champs Elysees is encouraged when you visit Paris as this is the city's most famous street, it's where you will find all the top class hotels, shops and restaurants. When you visit this region of the city you will see it is a much more select area, most of the five star hotels are located here but more affordable hotels can be found further out.
The city's famous museum, the Louvre is huge and worth a visit if you have the time, with almost a third of a million exhibits, you will not be able to see everything in one trip. The problem is a Paris short stay will only ever provide a glimpse of what can be seen here; some of the world's most important art collections including the infamous Mona Lisa are on display. Paris has always been a magnetic destination for artists, painters like Monet and Picasso spent many years here and a large number of their art works can be seen in Paris today.
Paris is also the home of the equally famous Arc de Triomphe which Napoleon had constructed in the early part of the 19th century, the names of his generals are engraved on its surface and another of those must have photo land marks. Many people do not know that an observatory was included in the design which affords great views of the surrounding area; in particular those obtained along the lanes that lead from it.
Certainly it is not fair to believe that these are the only places in the city worth visiting; these are however, the most popular with regular tours arranged, many of which are either free or at a subsidized cost. On your short say in Paris you will only see a small sample of what is available for a visitor; what you aren't able to this time will have to wait for another occasion.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's former PresidentLuiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Wednesday criticized his formerFinance Minister Antonio Palocci, who recently turned in evidenceand told the court that Lula was deeply involved in corruption.
The former president gave a long testimony earlier on Wednesdayto Judge Sergio Moro, who is in charge of the corruption casesinvestigated by the Federal Police's Operation Carwash. Hecommented on the accusations made against him by his former ally, denying any involvement in corruption and other alleged crimes.
After a long investigation, Palocci decided to provideinformation on Lula in exchange for a lenience deal. He said theformer president had close ties with the construction companyOdebrecht, which is at the center of the corruption scandalinvolving contracts with oil giant Petrobras, and received millionsof dollars in bribes from Odebrecht.
"Nothing in his testimony is true. The only true thing he saidwas that he is only making the accusations because he wants thebenefits of the lenience deal," Lula said.
Lula called Palocci "cold and calculating" and said the formerminister only made accusations against him to get a shortersentence. He said Odebrecht's donations to the Lula Institute arelegal and documented and do not constitute bribes.
He also denied Palocci's accusation of obstruction of justice, saying he would not be in politics if he did not believe injustice.
"Regrettably, Palocci subjected himself to this small job, because inventing untruths to try to criminalize a person whom heknows did not commit the crimes he alleged is very unpleasant,"Lula said. "I honestly do not feel anger at Palocci. I feel sorrythat he ended such a brilliant career the way he did." Enditem
MELBOURNE, July 7 (Xinhua) -- One in 10 Australian students are learning a second language in their final year of secondary school, data released on Friday revealed.
The data, released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) after the 2016 national census, found that 10 percent of students were learning another language in their final year of school, including native speakers.
The low rate of second language learning comes despite 28 percent of Australians reporting they speak more than one language at home, up from 22 percent in 2011.
Tim Mayfield, the Executive Director of the Asia Education Foundation at the University of Melbourne, said that the rate of language learning had been dropping for 50 years.
"As best as we can assess there's been a steady decline across the board from the 1960s when we had 40 percent of secondary students graduating having learned a second language," Mayfield told Xinhua on Friday.
He said that a lack of collaboration between Australia's states, territories and federal government was mainly responsible for the downturn.
Many Australian students were forced to give up on the language the.
